چکیده

The Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy (IESSG) at the University of Nottingham, UK has developed a number of simulators which have been used on a number of commercial and research projects. They are also playing an ever greater role as teaching tools at undergraduate and masters level. This paper presents some of the key packages developed and used by the IESSG over the last 10 years as well as a more detailed explanation about our more recent aerial triangulation / in-flight GPS/IMU simulator (including examples and student results).

A Multi-Sensor Fusion MAV State Estimation from Long-Range Stereo, IMU, GPS and Barometric Sensors

State estimation is the most critical capability for MAV (Micro-Aerial Vehicle) localization, autonomous obstacle avoidance, robust flight control and 3D environmental mapping. There are three main challenges for MAV state estimation: (1) it can deal with aggressive 6 DOF (Degree Of Freedom) motion; (2) it should be robust to intermittent GPS (Global Positioning System) (even GPS-denied) situat...

An Effective Methodology of Using Gps/imu Data for Automatic Point Transformation in Aerial Triangulation

In this paper, an efficient methodology using GPS/IMU data for automatic point transformation in aerial triangulation is presented. It firstly performs matching within each strip. For point transformation between strips, with the help of GPS/IMU data, tie point’s initial position in search image of neighboring strips can be easily obtained, with high accuracy of several pixels. Then correlation...

Direct Geocoding - is Aerial Triangulation Obsolete?

By direct geocoding or direct georeferencing, i.e. the direct measurement of the exterior orientation of an imaging sensor using an integrated system consisting of receivers of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and a strap-down Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), required ground control and tie point information could be reduced or eliminated significantly. Using integrated GPS/inertial systems ...

Image Orientation by Combined (A)AT with GPS and IMU

One precondition for direct sensor orientation with GPS and IMU is the correct sensor calibration. The related parameters as well as the relation between the IMU and the aerial camera (boresight misalignment) have to be determined by conventional bundle block adjustment. During this process a camera self calibration (focal length, principal point, additional parameters etc.) may be performed un...

Oeepe Test on Integrated Sensor Orientation - Status Report

The topic of image orientation by combined aerial triangulation with GPS/IMU, also called integrated sensor orientation, has received much attention lately. One of the main questions of fundamental relevance is, if and under which conditions the direct determination of the parameters of exterior orientation via GPS and IMU can be a complete substitute for aerial triangulation. A more practical ...
